New emergency grant funding for small businesses has been released and applications are now being accepted. These funds are local matching dollars drawn from the City of Newport and Linln unty for previous grants approved by the Oregon State Emergency Council. The city of Newport has $100,000 available for small businesses in Newport, and Linln unty has another $100,000 for businesses anywhere else in the state.
“I’m grateful that we can offer another opportunity for our small business community as we continue to mitigate VID and the threat is there for Linln unty,” Miss. Claire Hall said Tuesday. “Businesses should experience an easy application process and mmunity Lending Works, which is the administration of this program is available to answer any questions. They have been a fantastic partner in the grantmaking process.”
Njeda Small Business Emergency Assistance Grant
Businesses can register for this grant program until October 19 at 11:59 p.m. Eligible businesses will be entered into a lottery and receive a formal application in the order determined by the lottery. They must be for-profit, have 25 or fewer FTE (full-time equivalent) employees as of the end of 2019, and be located in Linln county. Firms are eligible regardless of whether they have received assistance from other programs, including PPP and EIDL.
Prizes will be awarded by lottery. A pre-screening application will be required for all businesses seeking access to these funds through mmunity Lending Works (https://mmunitylendingworks.org/emergency-grants/).
“With businesses in our community struggling, it’s critical that these funds are made available as quickly as possible,” said Newport City Manager Spencer Nebel. “Small business is the lifeblood of our society. We hope these funds will see them through the worst of this massive and health pandemic.”

Dauphin County Commissioners Announce Small Business And Nonprofit Covid 19 Recovery Grant Program
The Oregon Legislature, in partnership with the Governor, has appropriated $5 million from the state’s General Fund, which will be combined with $5 million diverted from existing programs at the Oregon Department of Business Development (Business Oregon) to provide financial assistance to small businesses adversely affected by economic conditions related to the VID-19 pandemic that have not received federal emergency assistance under the federal CARES Act or another federal emergency pandemic funding program.
To fill gaps not reached by other programs, these state funds go to adversely affected businesses with 25 or fewer employees and only those that failed to receive funding from the federal CARES Act, including the Safeguard Program of Small Business Administration wages, the Enomic Injury Disaster Emergency Loan Advance Program, or other federal pandemic emergency funding programs to date. Businesses can use the proceeds for any operating expenses related to the business.
Mmunity LendingWorks administers this program. Businesses wishing to apply for this grant can pre-register for the application process.
