How To Apply For Grant Money – The FY23 Project Grants Program Part 2 Applicant Portal deadline has been extended to Wednesday, July 20, 2022 for all applicants. 11:59 PM Eastern Time. We strongly encourage you to register and/or renew your SAM.gov organization registrations as soon as possible if you intend to apply for an NEA grant. This process can take several weeks.

NEA will not grant an extension before the application deadline. Organizations experiencing issues with the registration process should continue to work to complete these registrations and submit applications through Grants.gov by the deadline.

If your organization is unable to submit by the deadline due to these ongoing system issues, please contact NEA staff after the Part 1 deadline with documentation of your registration/renewal efforts and a description of the Sam.gov or The Grants.gov errors. timely submission. The documentation will be reviewed to assess the extension of the deadline. Thanks for your patience.

Instructions for Part 1 and Part 2, including application deadlines and a list of all application questions, can be found by selecting a topic relevant to your project (e.g. education, music, visual, etc.) from the list at the bottom of the project. on the page.

Before applying, an organization must create and maintain up-to-date registrations on Login.gov, the System for Awards Management (SAM) at SAM.gov, and Grants.gov. Registering and managing SAM and Grants.gov accounts is always FREE.

These registrations can take several weeks to complete, so start the process early! Registrations on Login.gov, SAM, and Grants.gov must be active before you can submit your application. Complete your registration well in advance of the application deadline. This should give you time to resolve any issues.

Both SAM and Grants.gov require you to use your Login.gov username and password to log in to their websites.

To set up a Login.gov account, go to Create an account. This account gives you access to many government websites, including both SAM and Grants.gov.

Previously, the federal government required a Duns and Bradstreet Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number to register your organization with SAM.

On April 4, 2022, the federal government transitioned from using the DUNS number to a new Unique Entity Identifier, also known as a “UEI.” The UEI is a 12-character alphanumeric value assigned by SAM for free.

When registering/updating a SAM account, select “Yes” when completing the “Representations and Certifications” section. All prize recipients must have these endorsements and certifications in order to receive the prize. Your SAM registration must be valid at the time of grant and for the duration of the grant.

Once SAM enrollment is activated, it may take a day or more to appear on Grants.gov. Confirm your SAM registration well in advance of the application deadline.

You must complete the Grants.gov registration process to access the Part 1 application packet (see below). You will need the Login.gov username and password you received during the registration process to submit your application, and you will not be able to submit your application unless your SAM registration is active and up to date.
