These grants were made possible by the historic Michigan budget recently passed and several increases in child care spending, and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, which signed into law in March 2021 an allocation of $23.97 billion aimed at providing financial assistance to states, territories and tribes. Child care providers can help mitigate unexpected business costs associated with the pandemic and help child care providers continue to operate. The Part 2 applicant portal deadline for the FY23 Grants Program for Projects has been extended to Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 11:59 for all applicants. Evening Eastern time. You do not need to request this extension. We apologize for any inconvenience caused while the system was down earlier today.
We strongly encourage you to register and/or renew your SAM.gov organization registrations as soon as possible if you intend to apply for an NEA grant. This process may take several weeks.
NEA does not grant extensions prior to the application deadline. Organizations experiencing difficulties with the registration process should continue their efforts to complete these registrations and submit applications through Grants.gov by the deadline.
If your organization is unable to submit by the deadline due to these ongoing system difficulties, contact NEA staff after the Part 1 deadline with documentation of your attempts to register/renew and a description of the Sam.gov or Grants.gov failures that prevented it. Documentation will be reviewed for consideration of deadline extensions. Thank you for your patience.

Before applying, your organization must create and maintain up-to-date registrations with Login.gov, System for Award Management (SAM) at SAM.gov, and Grants.gov. Registering and maintaining accounts with SAM and Grants.gov is always free.
These registrations can take several weeks to be finalized, so start the process early! Registrations with Login.gov, SAM and Grants.gov must be active before you can submit your application. Complete your registrations before the application deadline. This will allow you to solve any problems that may arise.
Both SAM and Grants.gov require you to use your Login.gov username and password to log in to their sites.
How To Apply
Go to Create Account to set up your Login.gov account. This account allows you to access many government websites, including both SAM and Grants.gov.
Previously, a Duns and Bradstreet Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number was required by the federal government to register your organization with SAM.
On April 4, 2022, the federal government switched from using a DUNS number to a new Unique Entity Identifier, also known as a “UEI.” The UEI is a 12-character alpha numeric value that is freely assigned by SAM.
When registering/renewing your SAM account, you must select “Yes” while completing the “Representations & Certifications” section. All awardees must have these representations & certifications to receive the award. Your SAM registration must be in place at the time of grant and for the life of the award.
