The recently passed Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act includes financial support for small businesses and nonprofits. There are three programs available through the US Small Business Administration, including the Payment Protection Program (PPP), which resumed on April 27. These programs are designed to provide financial relief through low-interest loans to businesses facing loss of revenue due to the covid19 Pandemic.

Business Rates Reform And How It Affects Us

Here are the basics for each program to help you apply for your small business or nonprofit.

Paycheck Protection Program The Paycheck Protection Program is a loan designed to provide an immediate incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on the payroll.

LOAN AMOUNTS & FUND DELIVERY Businesses can qualify for loans of up to $10 million – the loan amount is determined by 8 weeks of previous average pay (including independent contractors) plus an additional 25% of that amount. INTEREST & PAYMENTS PPP loans have a duration of 2 years and an interest rate of 1%. Payments will be deferred for 6 months, plus the SBA will forgive loans if all employees stay on the payroll for eight weeks and the money is used for payroll, rent, mortgage interest or utilities. — Emergency Financial Distress Grants The SBA offers a fast-track Emergency Financial Distress Grant to any business owner who applies for EIDL. ELIGIBILITY Any business owner applying for EIDL can apply for the emergency grant. Business owners must first successfully complete the EIDL application and then claim the grant after submitting the application. LOAN AMOUNTS & DELIVERY OF FUNDS The emergency grant amount of $10,000 will be disbursed within 3 days of successful application. INTEREST & PAYMENTS This loan advance will not need to be repaid. Ratepayers who occupy a property with an assessed value of no more than £50,999 (and who are not entitled to other statutory relief or liable for property charges) will have their bills calculated using the lower non-domestic small business assessment multiplier , instead of the national non-domestic rating multiplier.
