Kindercare: Choosing A Caregiver For Your Child
Meet Guadalupe Fregoso! He is the Center Director at South Street in Elgin, Illinois. Guadalupe graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies K-12 with a specialization in Special Education. He also earned a Master of Arts in Counseling – Elementary School Option from Northeastern University. He has been with since 2014. His favorite quote is “Feel what you need to feel and then let it go. Don’t let it consume you.” -Dhiman. Outside of work, Guadalupe enjoys playing music and spending time with family.

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. Because a lot happens at this age. When your child is roaming around, it means they are learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll help them explore their interests (and discover new ones!) as they play and learn.
This age is full of wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer plenty of books and toys and bring the artwork to children’s eye level. Children at Discovery Preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in the classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them get used to a more structured school setting.
This is the age for expression, when children really start to form their own ideas about what they want to play with and how they want to create it. Every day in our preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create artifacts, and play drama—all skills needed for his big next step: Kindergarten!
When you walk into one of our Pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and writing around the room. Labels are everywhere to help children connect letters to words. You will also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families in our community. Your child will increase their knowledge in languages, math, science, Spanish and social skills.

With safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and back, you can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-aged child while you’re at work! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or create a comic book, they’ll find a place to follow their dreams. Your child will start and end the day very happy!
Winter break, spring break, summer vacation—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you can count on us to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused on fun. We welcome children aged 5-12 during the school holidays and ensure they have an immersive, screen-free experience they won’t forget.
At the Cooking Academy, children learn new recipes from cultures around the world and develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll create everything from Southwest Rainbow Lettuce Wraps to Pumpkin Muffins, developing their skills in STEM, communication and more. And yes—little chefs get to eat their recipes!
Families are already giving our new learning adventure program a standing ovation: Music Explorers! Children will also learn to sing, walk, listen, play instruments and create their own tunes. Our core curriculum combines math, science, social studies, literacy and mindfulness (think yoga!) in a unique way to learn the foundations of music.

Learning how to read is so much fun! We help kids love books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventure program. From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters and sounds in small-group lessons tailored just for their age group. We try to be as inclusive as possible. To that point, we offer vegetarian options at mealtimes, take care not to serve common allergens, and can change the menu based on your child’s food sensitivities. If your child has additional needs, we will work with you to find a plan.
We provide nutritious meals and snacks developed by registered dietitians to meet the needs of the rapidly growing body and mind. If your child has special dietary needs and you prefer to bring their lunch, please make arrangements with the Center Director.
Every child starts toilet training at a different age. Until your child shows interest in toilet learning, we will provide diaper changes as needed. When your child shows interest, we will discuss how to work together to promote toilet learning.
