Before you cut your money holders you need to change your pin layers. First, start by ungrouping your layers. Select your item and choose Ungroup.
You must then change all writing levels to “pen” in the operations menu. I’ve left the text on its own layer so you can easily remove the text and add your own if you’d like. So for some of the cards there are 2 layers that you need to change to “Pen”.
If you need help adding your own writing text, I have a full tutorial on writing with your Cricut with links to my favorite free writing fonts.

After changing your writing layers to pen, you need to attach them to your money holder. Select your pen layers and money holder together by holding Shift while selecting them, then choose “Attach”.
Now you can cut your project. Click on “Do”. You should see your pen layers above your money holder template as shown in the image below. If it doesn’t, go back and make sure you’ve attached your pin layers to your money holder layer.
Follow the instructions on your computer to cut your money holders. When using your pen, make sure you insert that first.
Once you’ve removed your cardboard from the mat, you can start assembling your money holder. Start folding the pieces where the money goes inside.

Then glue the front of the money holder to the back piece. Be careful not to tape the tabs holding the money or the butterfly wings for the butterfly gift card holder.

Money Card Png
I love good gift cards, they make fantastic gifts but let’s face it, they can look a bit boring. After all the other fancy wrapping, ribbons and bows that go with this time of year, a plain standard envelope can be a little disappointing. Making your own gift card holder is not only a way to add a personal touch, but you can also make it look extra special.
1. Cut your paper to size. For a standard gift card, I recommend a 9″ x 9″ square.
If you are using patterned paper and want the finished pattern to run top to bottom, you will need to rotate your paper 90 degrees so the pattern runs left to right.
7. Turn the paper over and fold the bottom up so the diagonal edges meet at the crease.

9. Fold the top down the same way and tuck into the bottom edge. They should overlap slightly.
Now is a good time to run a bone folder or the back of a butter knife along your creases. Sharp creases help all sides sit flat.
10. Slide a gift card into the side pocket to ensure it fits and fold in half.
There should be enough space on both sides to take out your gift card. Fold and crease in half.

12. Finally, attach a gift tag (I used these wooden ones) before tying it up with festive red ribbon or baker’s twine.
Make them as decorative and ornate as you like. Much cuter than the plain envelope they come with, don’t you think?

Christmas Gift Card Holders Make The Holidays Fun
They’re used for all sorts of special occasions – birthdays, graduations, baby showers, bachelorette parties, weddings, etc. I’ve even seen a pair for Teacher Appreciation Week (although most schools don’t accept teachers cash, so if you go that route – check with your school first).
If you’d like to try making one yourself, I have the perfect free template to get you started. This is a generic Happy Birthday holder. I hope to make more in the future, but for now I just wanted to test one design.
