Each mystery shopping task can be very different from one another. Overall, you’re helping businesses learn how well they’re doing.
You will be paid for any necessary purchases you need to make (for example, we dined at the Longhorn and had to buy 1 appetizer, 1 dessert, and 1 appetizer). You will also earn a small amount for your time required to enter the report. If you score a great report, you can even earn a bonus with most companies. There will be a number of conditions they will give you about the ‘job’, including what day or time of day they want you to visit them.
Some jobs pay a lot more than others, but they tend to take longer. Make sure you choose jobs that you will actually complete, as your score will be tied to your account and if you do poorly or not at all, you will be offered less and less work.

Most companies require you to be a US citizen 18 years of age or older. You must be reliable, have reliable transportation and know how to pay attention to detail and follow instructions. Some companies require special testing before you can shop for them. Don’t let this put you off, it’s an added bonus and allows you to stand out.

It depends on the store you accept. Most stores require you to shop on a certain date and time. You can choose a store based on what’s already going on in your life. For me, I work it into what I’m already doing. For example, if I owned a grocery store, I would pick a date to go when I needed to go grocery shopping. As a full-time working mom, choosing to do it this way helps me save time and puts a little money in my pocket at the same time.

It really depends on what the customer wants. I’ve seen very basic stores that require you to answer a couple of questions, take a photo of the item, and a receipt for a report that you have to fill out within 24 hours with 75 questions or more.
You are usually asked to observe what is happening with the establishment where you shop. You may be asked to order and eat food, you may be asked to ask the clerk specific questions, and you may be asked to check the restrooms and the exterior of the building for cleanliness. It all depends on what the customer really wants to know.
Some stores require you to record video or audio. You will know this before you accept the store. Others may need photos or simply your written, detailed explanations.
You’ll need something discreet to store notes or people’s names/descriptions. I use a note taking app on my cell phone as I see someone with a cell phone in hand and on one, quite often these days. Keep in mind that most of the time you don’t announce it
