How To Start Your Own Party Planning Business – I am a full-time mother of two young children, a wife, and a professional event planner! Although we all know that corporate events are very prestigious and weddings can be drool worthy… I much prefer to work with my little clients. Yup, you may have guessed it. My niche market is planning children’s events, with a charming specialization in girls’ celebrations!
At only 24 years old, I created my own event planning business, where me and my “team” (and by team, I mean my family members who just wanted to make some side money. ) we started planning and hosting spa and beauty themed parties for the local market. From the beginning, it seemed like all the odds were against me.
How To Start Your Own Party Planning Business
I was a young college student with absolutely no experience, not much support and on top of that very little money to finance my vision! Not to mention my competition was more mature and well established in the market, as they had been monopolizing it for years. However, with strategic planning, faith in God, and pure determination; I was able to build my brand from nothing and become the most sought after among my competition in less than a year! I went from having zero clients to turning down clients and even found myself referring them to my competition!

As I continued to solidify my brand positioning in the market, I knew it was time (quite soon I might add) to expand. Surprisingly I realized, I had maximized the potential for my business in its original state. Therefore, I had three options: hire more employees to take on more events, add more services to increase income, or the most extravagant of them all open an event venue to host several parties a day. Although each option seemed quite profitable, none seemed satisfactory in my eyes. I found that among the development of my own business, that I simply loved, the art of business!
Therefore, I chose the fourth option (unconventional is my style it seems) to develop affordable training materials for other entrepreneurs like me, who are just as ambitious and determined. Those who may feel there is a barrier to entering their industry; whether that obstacle is finances, lack of resources, or simply self-doubt. Therefore, “Think like a Boss: Building your Glampire” was formed.
It is my hope that through my knowledge, education and experience; that other professionals are able to educate themselves and feel empowered to follow their dreams and goals of being successful and truly happy business owners!

Event Planning Business Plan That Achieve Results
Think back on some of the events you’ve been to recently. Maybe it was a wedding, a family reunion, or even a birthday party thrown by someone you knew. What did these events have in common? All of them were planned by an event planner!
An event planner helps make sure all the details go smoothly so the host can enjoy their time with the guests without worrying about making sure everyone has food or drinks or knows where to go. Chances are everyone will probably get distracted, but what if there was a way to make the event better and more enjoyable for all the guests?
Beyond planning large events, and fundraising, one of the primary responsibilities of an event planner is to help people coordinate their schedules with the host or organizer. For example, a potential client may need someone to help plan an anniversary dinner or a big birthday party.
This person hires you as an assistant to make sure everything goes according to plan, from reserving a venue and booking entertainment to making sure everyone knows about it and what to expect.
Only Successful Events
Another example would be a business owner who is relocating and needs help organizing a housewarming party (typically one of the most popular types of events for planners). This person hires you to hire caterers, DJs and make sure everything goes well when ordering food and drinks.
So now that we know what event planning involves, let’s take a look at how you can start your own event planning business:
Plan ahead: The first step to being an event planning business owner is to plan ahead, as in months and months ahead. It takes a long time to develop new concepts for themes and places that have not been done before. Your planning process should take as much time as the events themselves to ensure everything goes perfectly.
For example, if you are hosting a Thanksgiving themed party, make sure there is not another one scheduled for the same day. Consider alternatives such as hosting it on a different holiday or a weeknight instead of a Thursday. Also, keep in mind that you will need a few months’ time before sending out invitations and raising awareness of your event, so that guests have enough time to clarify their schedules.

You need to have an attractive website with all the information that people may need to get them interested in hiring you. Make sure your site includes samples of past work along with testimonials from happy clients.
Of course, make sure your site looks good and functions well on all devices (since most people will be browsing through their smartphones or tablets).
